TITLE: Medical Laboratory Technologist
Laboratory Department
Full-time Evening Position
Varied shifts including weekends/holidays, on-call
Responsibilities:
Responsible for analysis of blood and other body fluids for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. The technologist is responsible for ensuring the specimens are properly handled and stored appropriately for the requested testing methodology and the analyzer is in good working order with the quality control within the appropriate parameters. In addition, the technologist is responsible for reviewing the results and calling all critical results. Any issues within the laboratory including analyzer malfunctions, order issues, and specimen discrepancy will be the responsibility of the technologists to troubleshoot and resolve by investigating and/or working with technical service representatives via hot line.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Current certification/registration – MT or MLT
- Blood bank experience preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Skilled in laboratory techniques
- Good working knowledge of laboratory analyzers
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent customer service skills
- Work as a team player with department staff, medical staff, nursing staff,
and other hospital employees
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills
